I teach preschool and have looked over a lot of curriculum. This curriculum has everything included. Its so hard to find circle time activites with art and a learning program all wrapped up into one program. I am very impressed! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in teaching children. Melissa - CA

I love your program. I was worried at first about an ebook. I received it right away and it was so easy to open and use. I should of ordered it a lot sooner! Sally - MA

    Daily Teaching Guide

    Toddler
    January Week 2
    Hibernation Week

    Frog Hibernate

    Day 1

Circle Time: Print out my hibernating cards to show the children. Print out two sets. Cut out set apart. Place Velcro onto the cards and the game board so the pieces will stick together. Have all the children sit in a circle. You will need a small cloth bag or a pillow case. Place the hibernating cards into the bag. Have the children take turns pulling out a card. See if they know the name of the animal on the card. If they do not know the name of the animal, see if anyone in the group knows the name of the animal. Repeat the name of the animal. Have the child that pulled the animal card out of the bag place it onto the matching animal onto the game board. Help the children as needed. Continue until everyone has had a turn.

Frog Hibernate Art Time: Frog in the pond

Print out my frog picture onto card stock paper and cover with clear contact paper. Cut out the frogs for each child. You will need two sturdy paper plates for each child. Cut a door in the top plate. Make it large enough for the toddlers to reach into it and pull the frog out. You will need a piece of blue felt (pond) cut it out into a circle to fit the bottom paper plate. Give the children large paint brushes and red, blue and yellow paint to make brown. As they paint the paper plate and mix the colors together they will end up with brown. Have the children cover the other paper plate with glue and stick the felt onto it. Put these aside to dry. After both pieces are dry staple the outside edge and cover the staples with dark colored duck tape so the children will not see the staples and prevent them from pulling them out. Show the children hot to put the frog to bed (hibernate) beneath the mud and then wake him up and take him out to play with. Make sure frog is covered on both sides with clear contact paper to make him sturdy.

    Frog Hibernate

Learning Time: Feed The Frog Puzzle

Print out two sets of my puzzle cards per child. One card will be the game board. The other set you will cut out each item and cover with clear contact paper to make them sturdy. Have the children match each picture to the matching pictures on the game board. Note. You will need to attach Velcro onto the backs of each picture and onto the front of each picture on the game board. Make sure the Velcro is in the same spot on each piece so they will stick together.

    Frog Hibernate

    Special Activity: Hibernating Animal Book

Make the toddlers a Hibernating Animal Book to be able to look at during the day. Print out my hibernating animal pictures and cut them apart. You will need 1 ˝ pieces of card stock paper. Take a piece of card stock paper and fold into 4 even pieces. Now cut the pieces apart and do again. These are the pages for your book. Place the pictures on the card stock paper and cover with clear contact paper. Make sure you cover both sides. This makes the picture very durable. You won’t have to worry now about your toddler ruining the picture. Now hole punch the pages on the right hand side. Hole punch the top, middle and bottom. Use yarn or string to tie the pages together. Tie tightly so your toddler will not get the string off but also leave it loose enough so that your toddler can turn the pages.

    Toddler and/Or Preschool Monthly Lessons

    Toddlerpreschoolchildren singing

I have toddler and preschool themes available for every month of the year. My toddler themes are geared towards children 16 months to about 2.5 years. They work on teaching the toddlers colors, shapes, numbers up to 10, and some of their alphabet. These lessons are for children beginning to paint and glue. There are also fun activities and songs.

My preschool themes are much more advanced and geared towards children 2.5 up to 5 years old. Learning their shapes, colors, upper and lower case alphabet and numbers up to 20, learning to tell time, learning a few beginning sounds, simple science activities and so much more. Children will be using glue, paint and working on learning how to cut, trace, tell time plus work on pre math, pre reading, and science. Some of the simple science projects would be sorting fruits and vegetables, growing grass, watching an ant farm and so much more!!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed putting this program together. I have worked very hard at developing a good home daycare "program". I bought several books on Preschool Themes and even tried a few programs that deliver every thing to your doorstep. My problem was that became expensive and the books I purchased were not quite what I was looking for. I would go through the whole book only to use one or two activities. I was determined to have a Great Toddler/Preschool Program. I have taken several classes on creating your own curriculum and have learned a lot of new ways to teach children. So I finally decided it was time to come up with my own curriculum. I find my program works really well with my home daycare but all the activities will work for a larger daycare setting or preschool or even for Mom who is lucky enough to be home with her child. All children need daily stimulation and my program provides a lot of fun interesting activities.

I found that having the children doing my program gets them ready for school. My program is like doing a mini nursery school and preschool program in your own home. Parents like the idea that their child is having fun doing daily activities, art projects, songs, finger plays and games, and learning a lot each day.

    sheep game Fun Games

I start my Toddler/Preschool Program off each day with Circle Time. I try to get all the children to sit together in a circle on the floor. I never force any child to participate, but I do try to encourage participation. You will find in my daily lessons which activity to do each morning for circle time. My circle time activities could be a talk or discussion but usually involves a fun activity such as a learning activity, games, singing songs, hearing a story, etc.

I have found a lot of fun ways to help the children to learn while they're having fun. After out circle time activity we focus on the calendar. I made a Velcro one with Velcro numbers. The children take turns putting the numbers up each day. Toddlers are too young to understand what a calendar is but they still have fun sticking up the numbers and singing our 7 days of the week song. All the older toddlers can sing most of it.

(We hold up 7 fingers) There are seven days in the week, seven days in the week. There are seven days in the week. (Point to self) And I know them all. (Point to each day on the calendar) Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Saturday is the last one. Saturday ends the week. Repeat song.

Each week we teach the children New Songs for that Weeks Theme. Plus we include some of the children's favorites each week, such as: few of the same ones each week such as:

    The Wheels On The Bus
If You're Happy And You Know It
    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
    ABC Song
    Old McDonald Had A Farm

And some finger plays we do are:

    The Itsy Bitsy Spider
    One Two Buckle My Shoe
5 Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed
5 Little Monkeys Teasing Mr. Crocodile
    Plus others.

Children like repetition so don't be afraid to sing any song the children really like on a daily basis, but try to add a few new ones each week. Don't expect the toddlers to sing with you but they really enjoy music so please sing. In time they will be doing the hand movements to songs and nursery rhymes they hear often and before you know it they will start to sing a word or two.

    Weather Chart

Then we move onto the Weather. The weather chart is included in every monthly theme package. I have the children look out the window and tell me what the weather is doing. I will give little hints to the children. (is the sky white or blue?) if its white does anyone know what that means? (its cloudy)etc.

    Children Painting EaselPainting

After circle time I have the children come to the table and sit down and get ready for art time. I have a daily art project (craft) for them to do each day that goes along with that weeks theme. Look in your Toddler or Preschool lesson Book to see what each days craft is going to be. If we are going to use glue I place the glue into tiny plastic cups such as the kind you get with the sample play dough. I only put a small amount in the cup. Just enough for that days project. I give the toddlers large brushes to use and the preschoolers smaller ones. If we are going to paint I make sure they all have some type of paint shirt on. Sometimes I just use an old sweat shirt and cut off the arms. Anything will work. I have a few stained up wash clothes that we use as paint rags. I just wet the paint rag and it keep it handy for spills or a child who is done before the others. This way I can wash them up with out leaving the others. After everyone is done I have them all go to the bathroom together and wash up with warm water and soap.

Above are some examples of my toddler learning activities. These activities are made from easily accessible materials and provide a fun learning experience for the children. The ones shown above may not be available for the month you are purchasing but similar activities are available for each month.

sheep game bird puzzle Shape Puzzle

Above are some more examples of the learning activities we do each month. But these ones are printable games and puzzles available in my program. Different months have different printable pages and activities. The ones shown above may not be available for the month you are purchasing but similar activities are available for each month.

flowers Feed The Puppy Hair Srunches

My program also provides special activities for each day. Above are some of the examples. The first one is flowers, where the children will go on a flower hunt and collect plastic flowers. Then the feed the puppy some bones and putting hair scrunches onto a card board base. Each monthly program has different monthly activities. The ones shown above may not be available for the month you are purchasing but similar activities are available for each month.

After purchasing my themes you may find it is easiest to print out the month you purchased and place it into a large 3 ring binder. I separate each month with a monthly divider. You can purchase dividers all printed out by the month at staples or wal-mart in the office supplies.

I place the songs into a smaller divider and I print my weekly charts out on card stock. It is very heavy paper that is also sold in the office supplies. I do not hole punch these and place them into plastic sheet protectors and place these into the back of my large 3 ring binder. Since the plastic sheets already come with holes punched in them I do not have to hole punch the charts. After you have purchased all 12 months and have them placed inside your 3 ring binder you will have a huge Toddler or Preschool Curriculum to use year round.

If you store the printable pages into file folders and store them by the month they will be easily found and used, year after year.

I have Toddler Themes for ages 1.5 to 2.5 years or Preschool Themes for ages 2.5 to 6 years. Each day consists of Circle time, Art time, learning activity and a special activity. You get five weekly lessons each week for four weeks per month bought. The above display is my one day page from my Toddler Themes for January. You will also get four posters for each month. Below are some samples of my monthly posters. Depending on which month you purchase you may not get the ones on display but you will get similar ones for each month.
